Story of Jaya and Vijaya

Four sons to Brahma. They are Sanagar, Sanandanar, Sanathanar and Sanathkumar. They are Brahmacharys. They spent their time in Bhagavad Gita. These best sages were young in appearance. They have no physical consciousness at all because they are enduring in Brahma wisdom.

One day the four of them went to Vaikundham to see Lord Srivishnu. They crossed several gates and went inside, reaching the seventh gate, which is the last gate. Jaya and Vijaya were waiting at that gate. Jaya, Vijaya were very angry to see that the four sages, who appeared to be very young, tried to enter without their permission. They prevented the sages from being allowed inside. Again and again they were asked to let themselves in, but the Jaya, Vijaya insulted them by not letting them inside.

The sages finally became very angry and cursed the Jaya and Vijaya, saying, 'You two will be born as monsters on earth.' Only then did they both realize the mistake they had made and apologize to the sages for their action, they can be free from this curse. Knowing that the guards had behaved disrespectfully towards the sages, Lord Vishnu, along with Goddess Lakshmi, quickly came to their place. Mahavishnu himself apologized to the sages for the action of the guards.

Jaya and Vijaya are the best devotees of Vishnu. So Mahavishnu said to them, 'They have cursed you for insulting the sages. I can not change their curse. So, you both have to be born on the planet three times. But still, do not be afraid. Then you will come and join into my feet'.

The curse of the sages was fulfilled. They were born to Goddess Didi on the earth. They are called Hiranyakasipu, Hiranyakshan. The elder Hiranyakasipu was very deadly man. He did great thapas and received boons from Brahma and became very powerful. Hiranyakshan, who was very strong, understood the deadly war and drove the devas out of the deva logam with his sword. Then he plunged into the sea in triumph.

All the sea creatures saw him and ran away trembling with fear. Eventually at sea he reached the city of Vipavari. That city was the city of Varuna, the king of the underworld and the ocean. Hiranyakshan, who went there, called Varuna to war. But Varuna has no intention of going to war with Hiranyakshan, who has the power to defeat Devendra. Therefore, he praised Hiranyakshan by saying, 'You are the best fit for strength. There is no one here who can fight you like that. Lord Vishnu is equal to you! So, be influential to him! ' he said.

Meanwhile, the world is drowning in the flood. Mahavishnu incarnate as Varahi  and lift Bhumadevi with his ivory saved her from drowning into the water. Hiranyakshan arrived there at that time. When he saw Lord Mahavishnu incarnate, he mocked him. Mahavishnu put the planet on the water and started a war with Hiranyakshan. Brahma and the other gods saw the war without blinking an eye.

Mahavishnu, who was in the form of Varahi, fought with Hiranyakshan with his mace. Unable to compensate for his strength, the monster began to manipulate magic. He thought of deceiving the Lord by hiding himself by his magic.

Can the Lord, who has illusion as his power, be deceived by illusion? Lord Vishnu to cast his chakra weapon on Hiranyakshan, he appeared out of his magic. Later, he started attacking Lord Vishnu who was in the form of Varahi with his hands. The two began to wrestle. Eventually, Mahavishnu attacked Hiranyakshan with his fists. Brahma and other deities praised Lord Vishnu. Likewise both Jeya and Vijaya born three times in earth as a monster, deceived by Lord Vishnu and came back to Vaikundham
